3 ways to expand your worldview

Hey Friends,

My shaky memory gets supercharged when I do monthly reviews.

Don’t let the “review” part scare you. I just did January’s and it took 9 minutes.

I type bullets for my favorite things of the month. Other people like Plus/Minus/Next journaling.

Regardless of format, it’s helpful to zoom out each month.

And if zooming out is your cup of tea… grab some low-carb crumpets and keep reading.

The smartest investors use an “investment thesis” to validate their ideas.

But in our lives, we make investments constantly. Yet most are without a supporting thesis.

So I wrote my “Life Investment Thesis” with four easy parts:

  1. Macro Trends and Observations

  2. Catalysts for Personal Growth

  3. Optimizing for Fun

  4. What Don’t I See?

Check it out here to draft your own life investment thesis. (It's actually fun)

🧠 Words That Don’t Translate

When translating languages, some words simply don’t translate.

Eunoia.world is a cool website listing these to better understand other cultures.

A few of my favorites:

  • Mangomoment (Dutch) - "What can I do now for you, to make you happy?"

  • Ikigai (Japanese) - Reason for being; thing that gets you up in the morning.

  • Eunoia (Greek) - A well-mind; beautiful thinking

Exploring new places and languages motivates me to expand my perspective.

Philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein put it best: “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.”

Finally learned this quick trick

Have a great week,

Mitchell

Ps. New song for the writing playlist. 🎵
