🌱A rare ask for help

Rename. Collecting dots. Jam session.

Here’s your 3 insights in 3 minutes

🌀Alliteration

I heard this clip on The Tim Ferriss show how the name of your company is the most important decision you’ll make.

Eben Pagan is an OG marketer who swears by alliterations and rhymes for brand names (Coca Cola, YouTube, etc.).

So I put this overview article into ChatGPT and started brainstorming potential better names for this newsletter and I think I found one I like…

Patterns & People

But I’d be FOOLISH to just change it without getting your feedback first.

What do you think? Can you just reply with 👍 or 👎?

Thank you!

🔍 Collecting vs Connecting

There’s a famous Steve Jobs line that everyone knows, but gets wrong.

“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”

Steve Jobs

Yes, connecting happens looking backward, but collecting dots happens right now.

It’s our job to collect the dots (run experiments, follow curiosity, get feedback) to then connect them in unforeseen ways later.

Me asking for your feedback on this newsletter is collecting more dots.

I don’t love asking for help, but realize it’s the KEY part of the connecting (and therefore growth) process.

Appreciate any feedback on the name and overall what you think of this newsletter? How can I make it better for you personally? I LOVE and respond to all replies.

đź’ˇWhat Don’t I See?

“The greatest value of a picture is when it forces us to notice what we never expected to see.”

— John Tukey, statistician

Getting feedback from trusted friends/colleagues is one of the highest leverage things we can do. The question “what don’t I see” is also the hardest to answer ourself.

PS. I just opened up a few jam sessions to help 1Ă—1 with your business strategy, content, or ai systems. Running an experiment for $10 to see if I like doing them and will either stop or raise prices. Dot collecting!
