Small asks that lead to big opportunities...
Here’s your 3 insights in 3 minutes.
🐠 Casting Your Net
At 12 years old, Steve Jobs called up Bill Hewlett (founder of HP) asking him for spare parts to build a frequency counter.
Hewlett laughed, gave him the parts, and then offered him a summer job.
Later in life, Jobs reflected:
“Most people don’t get experiences like that because they never ask.”
That line hits.
Most people never ask. They underestimate how often it works.
It’s like fishing. The more you cast, the more you catch.
The more you ask, the luckier you get.
💡 Feedback From Friends (FFF)
Sometimes the best “ask” is simply asking for feedback from a homie who’s opinions you value and trust.
Some of my BIGGEST insights came from FFF: Feedback from Friends.
Here are 2 texts I literally sent this week:

Each took 20 seconds to write. Both turned into energizing conversations and new ideas I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
PLUS we got to connect and catch up.
Here’s the thing I wish I understood sooner: your friends WANT to help, they just need an invitation.
Just ask.
If you’re reading this, text one friend right now: “Yoo, can I get your feedback on something quick?”
You’ll be surprised how many doors open from tiny asks.
🤽 Enthusiasm At Work
The late IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad once said:
“If you are not enthusiastic about your job a third of your life goes to waste.”
Put another way:
Some people enjoy their work. Some don’t.
But everyone shows up.
So why not find ways to make it more enjoyable?

Mitchell
