🌱 I got offered a CEO role (2 weeks in)

We can't see most doors until we start walking

Here’s your 3 insights in 3 minutes

🤔 The CEO Role

A month ago, I started working with a new client on operations.

Two weeks in, he said: “This is going great. Want to be CEO?”

I didn’t see that coming.

And I still don’t know if I’ll do it.

But that’s not the point.

The point is this:

That opportunity didn’t exist… until I stepped into something uncertain.

Problem: humans hate uncertainty and discomfort
Solution: I often think of the chorus of this song

Remind yourself sometimes that
Either it goes well, or it passes.

Takeaway: We can’t see most doors until we start walking.

đź“‹  The Best Coach Didn’t Focus On Wins

I’ve been going deep on John Wooden lately.

The winningest coach in college basketball history (10 championships in 12 years).

And he never focused on winning.

Instead, he focused on the controllables.

I broke down Wooden’s philosophy in this short-form video (more on this video experiment soon).

🤔 Redefining “Success”

Wooden redefined success to something he could actually understand and implement.

"Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable."

John Wooden

I love this so much.

Rather than focus on success, focus on the self-satisfaction in knowing we did our best.

Not only does create more satisfaction (ahh that elusive feeling) but also more opportunities.
