Hola from Buenos Aires,

3 goodies, 3 minutes. Let’s go.

⚠️ Danger of Friendships

I read something recently that’s been stuck in my head all week. (H/T @Ellie Rome

Everyone knows the saying, “You’re the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with...”

But here’s WHY it’s so much more than that.

A study from New England Journal of Medicine showed the spread of obesity through social networks. Data proves that if your friend becomes obese, then YOU are 45% more likely to gain weight over the next four years.

But here’s where it gets crazier. Even if a friend of your friend gains weight, YOU are still 20% more likely to gain weight. Further, if a friend of a friend of your friend is obese, you are 10% more likely to gain weight.

Let that sink in for a second.

The data is compelling, but what do we do with it?

Use a 3-step process to avoid traps by adjusting your AIM (actions, interests, magnets).

🤝 Make Intros

Making genuine, helpful introductions is low effort and high impact. And I LOVE it.

One sentence I find myself using often is “also you both are just amazing humans.”

Simple format:

“@person 1 is [quick background]

@person 2 is [quick background]

So thought [reason you’re connecting them].

Also, you both are just amazing humans and will enjoy knowing each other.”

Here is an example from last week:

There’s no expectation for anything in return. The connector just has an eye for others' interests and makes intros when possible.

Can you make one intro this week?

🤔 Life Games

“Life games reflect life aims. And the games men choose to play indicate not only their type, but also their level of inner development” - Robert S. de Ropp
