Greetings from Aspen,

Your 3 golden nuggets of the week:

Feel like taking a trip, but not sure where?

Use Google Flights and leave “Where to” empty.

It shows the cheapest flights on those dates. (Can also select non-stop only)

📱 Favorite App

Many writers recommend Otter.ai voice notes for easier first drafts.

But my favorite use is for “walk and talks.”

Grab my AirPods and sunnies — walk outside and speak whatever comes to mind. (Yes, talking to myself.)

It’s amazing.

Just speaking thoughts out loud sparks insights you otherwise wouldn’t piece together. Like journaling, but on the go.

It also automatically transcribes the audio. Check it out here (no affiliation).

đź’© Shitty First Drafts

Ernest Hemingway said, “The first draft of anything is shit.”

Anne Lamott, author of Bird By Bird, coined the term “Shitty First Drafts.”

Point is simple, it’s easier to rewrite than to write. So just start something.

Two examples of what this actually looks like for me.

1 - These emails always start in a Google doc:

2 - Feeling cheeky last weekend, I extended the concept to packing. Threw together my ski gear a week early (which I never do) while saying “shitty first draft baby!”

Spoiler: WAY easier than waiting until the night before.

Now your turn...What shitty first draft will you create this week?

Stay drafting,

Mitchell
