Travel tips and language learning š§
Hola from Mexico City,
First week in CDMX was fantƔstico.
Early realization for travelingā¦ having good intel is KEY.
I joined Nomad List and learned a ton about the city, travel info, and connected with other travelers (some of us met IRL at meetup Friday)
Friends recommended places, restaurants, language apps (BaseLang), delivery services (Rappi), etc.
And of course meeting local homies (events, coworking, Bumble, etc.)
Bonus intel = knowing where your stuff is. I use Apple AirTags in my luggage and backpack for peace of mind. :)
š²š½ Mexico City
CDMX is HUGE. For context, the top 5 most populated cities in the US total 20 million people.
NYC (8.6M)
LA (4M)
Chicago (2.6M)
Houston, TX (2.4M)
Phoenix, AZ (1.7M)
The population of Mexico Cityā¦?
22 million amigos! š¤Æ Muy grande.
š§ Language Learning
I have a 204-day Duolingo streak going, but thatās not how you get fluent.
Now Iām using BaseLang which offers classes and content structure. Their Sounds of Spanish pronunciation guide was the MOST helpful learning resource so far (by factor of 10x).
Mastering the alphabet and sounds should be step 0 for any language learning. Might seem obvious, but itās skipped by most, myself included. (practicing my rolling rrās as I type this.)
š¬ Vagabonding Highlight
āVagabonding is about looking for adventure in normal life, and normal life within adventure.
Vagabonding is an attitudeāa friendly interest in people, places, and things that makes a person an explorer in the truest, most vivid sense of the word.ā
