šŸŒ± Relationship reflection questions (template + cabin retreat)

Couple retreat. 2023 top reflection. Deep talk with partner questions.

Here are your 3-minute insights to make connections with yourself and those around you.

šŸŖµ Cabin Retreat

My girlfriend and I just got back from a cabin retreat an hour outside of Austin.

Just her and I (and her dog Shadow) to celebrate our 1 year (dating) anniversary.

Some great hikes, morning coffee views, and of courseā€¦

I prepped some ā€œreflection questionsā€ for us too (fun!).

Morning views (and nighttime stargazing) #ranchlife

I had saved this viral tweet of great questions for ā€œdeeptalk with your partner.ā€

Then, I put the questions into Claude and gave it more context (this was our one-year anniversary, staying at a cabin, and I wanted to reflect but also space it out a few days and keep it light, etc.).

And organized it into a Google Doc for us:

Hereā€™s the Google Doc to make a copy for your own relationship reflections!

ā¬…ļø Last Yearā€™s Reflection

Okay, this is kinda crazy.

Last year on December 17, 2023, I wrote my year-end review.

I put a forward-looking ā€œdream lifeā€ section, imagining I am one year into the future, looking back at the year (so written Dec 2023, but as if I was at the end of Dec 2024 looking back at the year).

The number one thing I wrote was ā€œgirlfriend who is beautiful, smart, and funny.ā€

Then, 10 days later (12/27/23), I went on the first date with my now gf, who is exactly all three of those things.

But look, Iā€™ll be the first to admit itā€¦

This stuff can maybe be a little woo-woo.

And sure, sometimes it doesnā€™t work.

BUT.

Sometimes, it does...

So, it seems like a crazy asymmetric bet that anyone would be foolish not to place. Because, why not?

Basically, you can write out your dream life that would light you up like a Hanukkah menorah ā€” and sometimes it all doesnā€™t come true, but sometimes it does?! Sign me up for all 8 nights of that please.

ā²ļø Tracking

I interviewed Marshall Haas in Dallas this week.

He sold his company for $52 million dollars this year. (bonkers)

The video will come out next month, but one thing he mentioned I immediately started experimenting withā€¦ is time tracking.

Every day, heā€™d track his time spent on each business using the Harvest Chrome extension.

Now, before you groan at the idea of tracking everythingā€¦ consider this.

The calendar is a great tool to attempt time blocking, but in reality, everything shifts around throughout the day.

So time tracking with something like Harvest, is a great lookback tool. (See what you actually worked on and for how long.)

Plus, it puts you ā€œon the clock,ā€ which turns work into a fun game.

I donā€™t recommend tracking everything, but I do think it can be useful to start with just a few key projects.

Me sweating 40 minutes into writing this newsletter to keep it at 45 minsā€¦ šŸ˜…

I gotta keep this thing under 45 minutes, so gotta go!

Ps. To make 2025 your dream year, what do you want accountability or help with? (hit reply)
