🌱 How to run a “personal board of directors” meeting
Plan to BLUF. Quarterly Zoom calls. New podcast interview turned into IRL lecture.
Greetings from Austin,
Delivering your weekly dose of insight density to your inbox.
Let’s dive in.
âť—BLUF
BLUF is a military communications acronym meaning “bottom line up front.”
Military personnel always start messages with the most important and critical information first for effective comms.
When writing or articulating ideas, think: less fluff, more bluf.
đź’» Quarterly Zooms
I do a quarterly Zoom with 3 other friends aka fellow optimizer homies.
Simple format for each of us to share the BEST things we’ve learned and applied. As well as get feedback wherever we’re feeling stuck.
Find a small group of people on a similar journey who want to help each other.
A system of continuous feedback and learning is invaluable. (I like how MrBeast explains the same concept here.)
🎧 Podcast Interview
I just published an epic chat I had with Cam Houser on the podcast from a few months ago.
I talked to him about his concept of having a “personal board of directors”, how he started the 3 Day Startup program, and being a guest lecturer at UT.
It was an awesome episode, but then something wild happened…
After we recorded, he mentioned I could start by guest lecturing if I wanted to get involved at UT.
A few days later, I got this text that a spot randomly opened up.
I gave the guest lecture back in November, and it was a blast.
Apparently, it was (somehow) a hit with the students too, as the professor emailed me last week to come back and speak to his class this semester!
Crazy how the world works when you follow whatever it is you’re interested and curious about.
No way that would have happened had I not talked to Cam about it on the pod.

Mitchell aka “guest lecturer”
