For most modern work, there have been two pieces:
The tool.
And the team.
Software to do the job.
And someone to actually use it to drive a business outcome. (hopefully)
HubSpot + a marketer.
Analytics tools + an analyst.
Ad platforms + a media buyer.
That was the model: Tools and team.
Now the tools have gotten much better.
Good enough they can handle more of the work themselves.
Which changes the question from, “How do I use this tool?” to “What do I actually want done?”
Not the process, but the actual outcome.
Your books handled.
Your reports ready.
Your content published.
That’s a big shift.
And it’s why this matters for agencies.
Because companies already pay for these outcomes.
Accounting.
Marketing.
Reporting.
Historically, agencies needed people to deliver the work.
Now more of that work can be handled by AI.
So instead of selling time…
you start delivering results.
I went deeper and found a good name for it:
Service as Software. (originally coined here.)
This was what Sam and Shaan mention on MFM (highly recommend watching this short clip. I’ve talked to 4 other agency owners this week alone on this.).
Sequoia simplifies it saying: a copilot sells the tool, an autopilot sells the work.
That’s where this is heading. And it likely starts small.
A narrow workflow.
A specific outcome.
Something you already do.
Then you improve it.
Systemize it.
Package it.
The shift is from tools and teams to outcomes.

This is for you.

Here's my most "productive" 10 minutes of the week:
Set timer for 10 minutes.
Close as many tabs as possible.
Re-prioritize top 3 things.
Deep exhale.
I just did this today (saturday) and I can't wait for future mitchell (monday) to feel so organized and glad this was done!
The cognitive tax of context switching is real. The more I can clear out, the better I think and feel.
🎯 Focus
“You can do anything, but not everything.”
AI is giving you more options.
More tools.
More ideas.
More directions.
Which sounds good.
But it usually just creates noise.
More tabs open.
More unfinished loops.
More scattered attention.
Nothing compounds like that.
The edge is still the same:
Pick one thing.
Stay with it.
Go deeper than most people would.
More options don’t create results. Focus does.
