Your future self will thank you

Still wrapping my monkey brain around the mystical concept of compounding returns. Not just financially, but in all areas of life (relationships, knowledge, etc).

Thought of the week: What are you building today that your future self will thank you for?

Let's dive in.

Your future self will thank you

To quote one of my favorite books, “You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” - James Clear, author of Atomic Habits.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Math

Your future self will thank you

Last November I did a quick exercise I revisit often. I call it “Family Math.”

It’s a quick calculation of what age my parents will be when I’m 35, 40, 50, etc.

It forces appreciation for the time we have left. (Partially influenced by The Tail End, one of my all-time favorite articles).

But an unexpected phone call back in November made me realize how to put it to action.

Just looking at this infographic blows my mind.

How were all these tech bros be in the same room at the same time?!

Yet, on the other hand, they’re all just humans. Albeit super impressive ones. But still mortals.

While Elon is now worth $237 billion…. He still first started with nothing.

Before he built billion-dollar companies, his first company was just a static webpage in 1996.

Your future self will thank you

Reminder to self: all big things first start off as small things.

Much Love,
