🌱 Easy way to audit your energy (wish I mapped this earlier)

Energy alignment pyramid. 3 types of conversations.

Here’s your 3 insights in 3 minutes.

🔋 Energy > Time

“Energy, not time, is the fundamental currency of high performance.”

Jim Loehr, The Power of Full Engagement

I read The Power of  Full Engagement years ago, but I’m only now discovering what it feels like to actually reap the benefits of energy alignment

Here’s what I learned and how you can do the same.

📐 Attractor Pyramid

For a long time, I didn’t know where to put my energy.

I noticed something I call Default Drift — unintentional choices slowly leading to a life of mediocrity. (No thanks!)

Now, I have a simple framework that makes the path forward obvious — and shows me where to focus my energy for real momentum.

I mapped it out to help me spot the patterns:

Attractor Pyramid

Starting at the bottom of the pyramid (smallest surface area for opportunity):

  • Drifter → Is not learning. Floats without direction or intention.

  • Absorber → Learns passively. Takes in ideas privately.

  • Seeker → Connects intentionally. Goes to events, reaches out, explores curiosity.

  • Sharer → Shares insights. Connects people, creates value without expecting anything in return.

  • Attractor → Opportunities start seeking you out. Inbound invites, connections, collaborations appear naturally.

I personally spent a lot of time as a Seeker: attending events, meeting people, exploring ideas.

Over the last few years, I’ve shifted into Sharer: posting online, co-hosting groups, connecting people behind the scenes.

Now, I’m starting to notice some attractor patterns: hosting private events, and inbound consulting opportunities, and more.

It’s not a perfect, step-by-step path.
In new areas, I’m often still a Seeker or Absorber.

But seeing this progression reminded me of something important:

The more I follow my curiosity and excitement, the more energy I have — and the more interesting opportunities present themselves.

How does this show up in your life?

🗣️ 3 Types of Conversations

Not sure where to start?

Consider your conversations. (Which is where everything starts, if you think about it.)

In the book Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection, Charles Duhigg explains the 3 types of conversations:

  • Practical → What is this really about? (Decision making)

  • Emotional → How do we feel? (Mutual vulnerability/feelings)

  • Social → Who are we? (personal background)

I’ve noticed my energy lights up around emotional and social conversations.

But step one is simply knowing which type of conversation you’re in.

Otherwise, it’s a perfect recipe for misalignment and energy drainage.
