🌱 How to “model” anything you want
Tony Robbins funny interview. Find model friends. Be the model.
Greetings from Austin,
This newsletter is all about sparking connections.
Sharing real examples and insights, you can actually apply.
This week is all about modeling.
Not on instagram.
Well, unless that you’re thing.
Let’s dive in.
📸 Modeling
I was so impressed with a podcast I heard this week.
Theo Von interviewed Tony Robbins, delivering the perfect combo of: frameworks + funny.
I tweeted my takeaways here (which also got a RT from uncle Tony).
I’m a HUGE believer in modeling whatever you want in life.
Find someone extraordinary at something.
Figure out what they’re doing and do that.
Simple process:
- Know what you want & why you want it
- Be very honest about the gap
- Make a plan to take action
- Do the hard thing
- Get momentum

🙌 Model Friends
Having a sloppy Zoom setup is like a restaurant serving a gourmet meal on a dirty plate. No bueno.
I’ve wanted to upgrade my home video/audio setup but was unsure how to approach all the gadgets and setup.
My friend Ryan Helms runs a content agency and is a PRO at content systems and studio setups.
He’s done all the research and set these up countless times for his clients. (He also has an excellent step-by-step free course outlining the entire setup.)
So I just bought everything he recommended in the equipment list. And he helped me set some of it up.
I saved HOURS getting the crash course from someone who’s been doing this for years.
Lesson: find the model.
Now I know what you’re thinking… “Wait, where do I find these models?!”
Easy-peasy.
Best way I’ve found is to follow your genuine excitement. Who gets you pumped to learn something? Who do you just feel alignment with? Who is doing the thing you want to do?
Listen to that. It works every time. Chances are you might also become friends in the process (which actually is the best part).
For example when I hired a brain coach to help me learn Spanish.
Or started working with Noah Kagan.
Whatever you are doing…
Find the model.
🙋‍♂️ Be the Model
Want progress? Find the model.
Want fulfillment? Be the model.
I wish I could bottle up all the dopamine I get when someone tells me my feedback/input/writing is valuable.
Being the model for someone else is not only fulfilling, but also a great reminder of the gain vs. gap.
I constantly have to remind myself to see the gain (progress from a year ago) instead of the gap (comparing myself to others ahead).
Happy modeling.✌️
Salud,
Mitchell aka “Model M”
